Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her

I have to give full credit to Anne of Doves and Roses for putting this nail polish on my radar.  I had never heard of this colour until I saw it on her blog, just look at this pretty thing:

Essie describes this shade as a “cool Grey-Green”, which is fairly accurate. This shade was part of the spring 2013 collection called “Madison Ave-Hue” with shades named after shopping areas around the world. names in the collection include “Go Ginza” (Tokyo), and “Avenue Maintain” (Paris). The name of this polish refers to the shopping area in Maximilianstraße, Munich. It appears that this particular shade made it over to the permanent line as it is still readily available.

Essie is one of my all time favourite nail polish brands. I’m always drawn to their neutrals shades, and also their red cremes – I feel that Essie makes the best on the market in those colour families. but I haven’t delved too much into the other colours and now I know that I’ve been missing out! Maximillian Strasse-Her is stunning:

Application was a breeze, here is the first coat:

It’s slightly sheer but no streaks or patchiness typical of pastel shades – I wouldn’t call Maximillian Strasse-Her a pastel really, more of a lightened creme.  Here is the second coat:

I find this colour to shift depending on the light – sometimes it’s a blue-y grey, sometimes it’s a greyish-green.

I would describe this colour as if the Colour Engineers at Essie (I’m not sure if such a position exists, I just made that up ) took the colour of a hospital scrub, mixed it with a feather of a mourning dove, and then added a dash of a robin’s egg:

Don’t you think?

This colour registers as a neutral to me – I think it would suit either warm or cool toned skin, and it would look great on fair or deep skin!

I also love that this colour is seasonless – it’s suitable for any time of the year and I plan on wearing it whenever I want something chic that’s not my typical nudes or sheer pinks.

Have you heard of Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her?  Memorize the name – you need this in your collection!
